All, Below are updated MBSA instructions, please note that we have had to change the start line due to the movement of Heysham No2 buoy, also we are going to send the multihulls off 10 minutes before the monohulls to avoid complications, if possible please print off & hand out instructions to your crews although the course information will be broadcast on channel 72 as per recent years, also worth a mention that there is a multihull trophy this year, as well as the usual Class 1 (PY<1050) Class2 (PY>1050) Team prize (best 3 corrected times per club) Seldom Seen (outstanding effort/cock up) also that skippers can chose weather to use spinnakers/chutes on day & PY will be adjusted to suit after race regards Paul Venton

Start Line for either Course is:- Between Yacht ‘Silver Lining & Heysham No2. Finishing Line for either Course is:- Piel Buoy [P] in Transit with Ship Inn. A Channel Course to be sailed from Barrow Sea 5 / Halfway Perch to the finish.
First sound signal + VHF – 10mins prior to start – Multihulls Second sound signal + VHF – 5 mins prior to start – Multihulls Third sound signal + VHF – Multihulls start, Monohulls 10 mins Fourth sound signal + VHF - 5 mins prior to start – Monohulls Fifth sound signal + VHF – Monohulls start
Course “A”: Start Line – Danger Patch [S] – Lune Deep [S] – Lightning Knoll [S] – Piel Buoy [P] finish.
Course “B”: Start Line – Danger Patch [S] – Barrow Sea 5 [S] – Piel Buoy[P] finish.
Yachts are placed on trust of their intention to race rather than inform the Race Officer prior to the Start and to record their own finishing times and report to the Committee Boat as soon as possible after the race with times and Club representing. General Requirements:- 1] MBSA yacht racing is undertaken in accordance with RYA guidelines and ISAF rules. 2] All participating yachts are asked to show their Club Burgee on the backstay or pushpit.
The safety of a yacht, all persons aboard, it’s handling and adequate insurance is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the owner/skipper at all times.. The establishment of these sailing instructions shall in no way transfer any responsibility to the MBSA or any of it’s Officers.
The presentation of Trophies will take place on Piel Island once results are known Refreshments will be available but will not be provided by the MBSA. Prior booking would be advised contacting Piel Bravo on VHF Ch. 8.
