Post subject:  Sailing to Douglas avoiding Wind Farms

With so much wind farm construction between Roa Island and Douglas I thought I would publish my proposed passage plan to the IOM. I have attached a screenshot of the chart with the construction sites overlaid showing their extensive area.

I have chosen to go slightly south of Douglas to sail up the coast passing over the protected anchorage before entering the harbour.

(Please don't use this chart for navigational purposes, it's just an illustration!)

Here is a screenshot of the three wind farms currently in various phases of construction off our coast.

The windfarm marked in red is the existing windfarm operating just off Lightning Knoll, as you can see the new sites are massive compared to the first.

Please bear this in mind as we have been informed that whilst these sites are in construction they are a definite no go area.
