Now that the winter months are just round the corner, you may find yourself with a few hours to spare so it could be a good time to enrol on an RYA theory course.
John Parlane (Experienced RYA Instructor) of Bay Sea School has kindly offered to hold RYA theory courses at the club if we can get enough sailors enrolled.
The courses on offer include :-
Day Skipper TheoryThis course is a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, meteorology, the "rules of the road" and the basics of seamanship.
It is ideally suited to those who have some practical experience of sailing and who would now like to learn how to navigate safely around familiar waters.
The course also represents the required level of knowledge for candidates on the RYA's Day Skipper Practical course.
Assessment: Two assessment papers.
Cost: £265 (Includes RYA Course Pack)
Coastal Skipper and YM Offshore TheoryThis is a more advanced course than Day Skipper, building on the skills acquired during that comprehensive, introductory course. It is therefore highly recommended that participants be confident to the Day Skipper level before attempting this course.
It equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages and provides a sound preparation for candidates considering taking the RYA's 'Yachtmaster Coastal' or 'Yachtmaster Offshore' practical exams.
Assessment: Three assessment papers.
Cost: £265 (Includes RYA Course Pack).
